Stuart Smalley Tries to Spoil The Democrats' World
In a state that elected former professional wrestler Jesse "The Body" Ventura as its governor, you can expect the unexpected.

There is no question Michael Bennet is a highly-qualified individual who will bring many talents to the U.S. Senate. And there is no reason he could not be a great Senator.
Chances are you've never put Al Franken and "sexy" in the same sentence. Well, it's time to re-evaluate. Check out this priceless YouTube clip of Fran...
Coleman's earlier admonishments about healing quickly and sparing taxpayer dollars have given way to a stubborn refusal to be a man of his word.
Bill's task will be headier than the rest. He'll not only face a Democratic juggernaut, he'll have to swallow the reality of his worst nightmare... Senator Al Franken.
This was a true straddle week, ushering out 2008 and ushering in 2009. And some of the top political stories reflected this split. Blago calling a press conference felt very '08; the Burris/Senate Dems showdown is totally '09. Franken v. Coleman is '08; Franken v. the Senate Republicans threatening to filibuster his seating is '09. Gov. Patterson considering Bill Clinton and Mario Cuomo doesn't feel '08 -- it feels 1988; Caroline in the Senate could be one of the more, y'know, compelling stories of '09. The top quote of straddle week had to be Alberto Gonzales' pathetic: "I consider myself a casualty, one of the many casualties of the war on terror." Let's see, he approved torture, politicized the Department of Justice, and lied to Congress about warrantless wiretapping and pre-war intelligence. Definitely not an '09 definition of a victim.
Point your browsers to The UpTake on Saturday starting at 9 AM to watch the opening and counting of those previously rejected absentee ballots in Minnesota's extremely close Senate race.
Compared to Burris, Mr. Franken's declared victory in the seemingly endless Minnesota senate battle has generated some cheering, for sure, but surprisingly little laughing or hilarity. And what a shame that is.
Happy New Year 2009! Because I've always felt it is more amusing to make new year's resolutions that others should follow, today's Friday Talking Poin...
It's hard to pick the "best" videos of the year. There are so many reasons that they can be good. So I've picked several based on my own categories.
Coleman's repeated attempts to stop the recount and tarnish the process are not only undemocratic, they're examples of why Minnesotans -- and the nation -- should hope the recount finds for Franken.
Love her or hate her, you have to admit that John McCain's selection of Sarah Palin for the Republican ticket this year was without any doubt the boldest political tactic of the year.

Coleman has sued his last few opponents, usually in the late going.
Any truth to the rumor a suit has been prepared and will be filed against the mortician in his pre-paid burial plan?
In an interesting turn of events - the St Paul Pioneer Press decides to run the WSJ Editorial today:

If anyone doesn't believe that this is a well planned effort at p r o p a g a n d a to try to convince Minnesotans that Coleman has a valid claim in his contest, I don't know what is. When are we going to throw off the j a c k b o o t s and take back America?
I realize that those outside of my fair state are very excited about the inauguration of Obama, but right now I'm so frustrated about Coleman, Cornyn and Reid that the bloom is completely off that rose.

Coleman: "I really believe that the people of Minnesota want to get this right, no matter what side of the aisle you are on,"
He sure didn't feel that way when Franken wanted a recount. The irony.
This is much like the 1994 gubernatorial race in Maryland where GOP candisate Ellen Sauerbrey claimed voter fraud and tried to gte the election turned around betrween Paris Glendenning and herself. It dragged on for months.
Coleman will not give up. He has no reason to. As long as he is bank rolled he will continue forever.
Isn't it great that those great patriotic republicans are normally the ones trying to surpress the vote and sueing to resolve elections. Why would any voter trust a republican? And why isn't Coleman in jail yet?
